The official YouTube channel
for the Rainy
Cocoa anime began streaming a promotional video for Rainy Cocoa side G, the fifth anime season, on Wednesday.
Unlike the previous seasons, the Rainy Cocoa side G season
will feature female main characters. Yōko, the daughter of the Rainy
Color cafe's owner Kōji Amami, takes over as the acting manager of the cafe.
The main cast
stars:
·
Eriko Matsui as Yōko Amami
·
Aina Suzuki as Meru Kashiwagi
The other cast
members include Miharu Hanai, Chiaki
Omigawa, Nichika Omori, Natsuko
Hara, Marina Yamada, and Ryo Horikawa (the voice of Kōji Amami in the previous seasons).
The original
story is again credited to IAM Denshi Shuppan. EMT
Squared is returning to produce the animation, and Team side G is
presenting the project.
The new season
will premiere on Tokyo MX on January 8 at 25:35
(effectively January 9 at 1:35 a.m.) and then on Sun TV on January 10 at 10:55 p.m. Before the broadcast, the cast
listed above (except for Horikawa) will appear in a two-session event on
December 8 in Tokyo. Tickets for a limited number of premium seats will also
include photographs of the cast at their dialogue recording sessions.
The first Rainy
Cocoa anime premiered in April 2015 and the sequel, Rainy Cocoa, Welcome to
Rainy Color (Ameiro Cocoa
Rainy color e Yōkoso!), premiered in October 2015. The third
season, Rainy Cocoa in Hawaii, premiered in October 2016. Funimation streamed both Rainy
Cocoa and Rainy
Cocoa, Welcome to Rainy Color as they aired, and the company
released both seasons subtitled only on DVD in September 2016.
The anime's
fourth season, Ameiro Cocoa Series Ame-con!! (pictured at left),
premiered in Japan in October 2017. Crunchyroll streamed the fourth
season as it aired, and also added the third season to its catalog in October
2017.
Crunchyroll added the first two seasons of the anime to its
catalog in March.
The previous
anime seasons of shorts followed a group of men who work at the Rainy Color
café. In the show's third season, the café opens a new location in Hawaii, and
the fourth season also focuses on the Hawaii shop. Each season of the anime has
featured 12 episodes.
