Aniplex began streaming a promotional video and 15- and 30-second commercials for the Eromanga Sensei original video anime (OVA) on Wednesday. The videos preview the first episode, "Yamada Elf no Love Song" (Elf Yamada's Love Song), and the song "Watashi no Shiawase ~Falling In Love With You~" by Elf Yamada (Minami Takahashi). (Note: the official videos streaming on Aniplex's YouTube channel are region-locked to Japan.)
The
two-episode OVA will run for a total of about 48
minutes and ship on January 16. The title of the second episode is
"Izumi Sagiri no First Kiss" (Sagiri Izumi's First Kiss). The OVA was
originally slated for release in 2018.
The
limited-edition Blu-ray Disc release will cost 7,000 yen (about US$61), and the
limited-edition DVD release will cost 6,000 yen (about US$53). Both versions
will include an original short story by light novel author Tsukasa Fushimi and original jacket art by light novel illustrator Hiro Kanzaki. The release will also bundle an original short manga by
the Eromanga
Sensei manga's rin and Suzu Yūki, an
Elf Yamada character song CD, and the "Fujita Akane no Eromanga Sensei Fukyō
no Tabi in Hawaii" video.
The release
will have a premiere screening in Tokyo on January 13, and various retailers
will distribute application tickets. The anime's main voice cast will attend
the event.
The "new sibling romantic comedy" revolves around
Masamune Izumi, a light novel author in high school. Masamune's little sister
is Sagiri, a shut-in girl who hasn't left her room for an entire year. She even
forces her brother to make and bring her meals when she stomps on the floor.
Masamune wants his sister to leave her room, because the two of them are each
other's only family.
Masamune's
novel illustrator, penname "Eromanga
Sensei," draws extremely perverted drawings, and is very
reliable. Masamune had never met his illustrator, and figured he was just a
disgusting, perverted otaku. However, the truth is
revealed that his "Eromanga
Sensei" is his own younger sister. To add to the chaos that
erupts between the siblings, a beautiful, female, best-selling shōjo manga creator becomes their rival.
The television
anime aired in 2017, and Aniplex of America streamed it on Crunchyroll, Daisuki, and Amazon's Anime
Strike service. Aniplex of America released the
series this year in two Blu-ray Disc sets.
Fushimi launched the
light novel series in 2013 after finishing the Oreimo (Ore no Imōto ga Konnani
Kawaii Wake ga Nai) light novel series. As with Oreimo, Hiro Kanzaki draws
the illustrations for Eromanga
Sensei.
