The official website for Satelight's
television anime of Kōji Natsumi's Girly Air Force light novel series revealed the show's new key
visual, ending theme artists, and January 10 premiere date on Thursday. The
series will premiere on AT-X on January 10 at 11:00 p.m., before airing later that
evening on Tokyo MX, BS11, Sun TV, and AbemaTV.
Voice
actresses Yūka Morishima, Hitomi
Ohwada, and Shiori Izawa will perform the
show's ending theme song "Colorful☆Wing" as their
characters.
Katsumi Ono (Senki
Zesshō Symphogear AXZ, G,
and GX; Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's and Arc-V) is directing the
series at Satelight,
and Shingo Nagai (WorldEnd, New Game!) is overseeing the series
scripts. Tōru Imanishi (WorldEnd, Ragnastrike Angels) is adapting Asagi Tōsaka's original character designs for animation, and Imanishi is
also serving as chief animation director. Hiroyuki
Taiga (Xenosaga: The Animation, Horizon in the Middle of Nowhere) is the mechanical
designer and and combat supervisor. "I've Sound" is composing the
music.
Run Girls, Run! will perform the show's opening theme song "Break the
Blue."

In the novels' story, mysterious flying creatures known as Zai
suddenly appear, and in order to fight the creatures, mankind creates fighter
aircraft called "Daughters," as well as the automatic fighting
mechanism "Anima," which are shaped like human girls. The story
centers on a young man named Kei Narutani, who yearns to fly in the sky, and an
Anima considered to be humanity's trump card, a girl named Gripen.
Natsumi
launched the series in 2014, and Kadokawa's Dengeki
Bunko imprint published the ninth novel volume on June 9. The 10th
novel will ship in January. Asagi Tōsaka provides
the illustrations for the novels. Natsumi previously worked on the
series composition for Gust's Blue
Reflection game.
Takahiro Seguchi launched a manga adaptation of the light novel series in the
December issue of Kadokawa's Monthly Shōnen Ace magazine on October
26.
