Spice & Wolf VR Anime Meets Crowdfunding Goal in 2 Hours

Independent development circle Spicy Tails' Campfire crowdfunding campaign for the virtual reality anime based on Isuna Hasekura's Spice & Wolf novels launched on Sunday, and met its 8,000,000 yen (about US$70,700) goal in two hours. The campaign will end on January 12. As of press time the campaign has raised 14,385,900 yen (about US$127,056).

The official Twitter account for the anime also revealed on Sunday that the anime's Kickstarter campaign for those outside of Japan will begin "next week."
The anime is slated for release on HTC VIVE, Oculus Rift, and other platforms in early 2019. The anime will also be viewable on PC without a VR headset, and it will have English subtitles.
The television anime's voice actors Ami Koshimizu (Holo) and Jun Fukuyama (Kraft Lawrence) are returning. Hasekura is writing the anime's scenario and the novels' illustrator Jū Ayakura is credited with the character design. Keisuke Sakikibara is providing the 3D modeling and motion, and n-buna is composing the music. Yō Shimizu provided the concept art pictured at right and Masatoshi Sekai designed the logo.
Spicy Tails also developed Project Lux, which is also written by Hasekura. The PC game with VR support had an English release from Sekai Project on February 2 via SteamSekai Project announced in December that Limited Run Games would release a physical edition.
