Saint Seiya Origin Manga Resumes on December 19

The January 2020 issue of Akita Shoten's Champion RED magazine revealed on Tuesday that Saint Seiya Origin, the second mini-series "season" for Masami Kurumada's Saint Seiya Episode Zero manga, will resume in the magazine's next issue on December 19. The chapter will have color opening pages, and it will feature on the issue's front cover.

The manga will have a new story that takes place in the main manga's "Poseidon Arc." The magazine previously teased in October that the manga would be the "second coming" of a "special series" that would reveal one mystery after another in Kurumada's Saint Seiya franchise.
Champion RED published the second chapter of Saint Seiya Origin in January. The first chapter debuted in December 2018. The story is a prequel to Saint Seiya, with a conspiracy brewing under the shadow of rival brothers Saga and Kanon, and a new mystery being unraveled.

The manga has inspired a number of television anime, original video anime projects, anime films, and spinoff manga. Netflix announced a new CG anime based on the original manga in August 2017, and the Saint Seiya: Saintia Shō spinoff manga also has an anime that debuted last December. A live-action Hollywood film for the franchise has been green-lit.
