Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Breaks Mugen Train's Box Office Record

Demon Slayer has done it again, shattering the Japanese box office in a way that only it can.
Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Becomes Fastest Film to 10 Billion Yen in Japan

Aniplex announced earlier this week that the new film, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle - Akaza Sairai, has become the fastest film in Japanese history to earn 10 billion yen (about $67.7 million USD). The movie, which is the first in a new trilogy, achieved this incredible milestone in just eight days.

This breaks the previous record held by the franchise's own cultural phenomenon, Demon Slayer – Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Mugen Train, which is currently the highest-grossing film of all time in Japan.

The numbers are simply staggering. In its first 10 days, the Infinity Castle film has already pulled in over 12.8 billion yen (about $87.1 million USD). It also broke Mugen Train's records for the best opening weekend, best opening day, and best single-day box office in Japan's history.

For fans outside of Japan, the wait won't be too long. The movie is set for a massive global release in over 150 countries. It will hit theaters in the United States and Canada on September 12, with both subtitled and English-dubbed versions available.

The film, animated by the incredible team at ufotable, also features theme songs from two of the franchise's most beloved artists, Aimer and LiSA, making it a can't-miss event for any fan.
